First...and second day of Vietnam

Ok people, sorry I didn't post yesterday.  I passed out after dinner and slept until 6AM this morning because of the jetlag.  That and Blogger decided not to load properly today.

Moving on.  Yesterday was really cool.  The Vietnamese students greeted us with singing, traditional dancing, and a puppet show!  Some of us actually joined in and danced as well.  After Vietnamese language class, we went to the U.S. Consulate here in Ho Chi Minh City.  It was very cool of them to sit down with us and talk about relations between the United States and Vietnam, as well as working for the State Department or in foreign countries.

Dinner was also spectacular!  So many delicious dishes.

Today we got up and saw a city planning lecture at the University of Economics and Finance (UEF), the university hosting us here in Ho Chi Minh City.  After that we had another language class and then went on a company visit to Phu My Hung Corporation.  It is truly amazing what they have done with what was once just a salt marsh.  Without a large image of the project (or going there yourself) it is hard to imagine the magnitude of what they've done, but here's a picture of just one off the apartments you could live in:
After the company visit we came back here to the hotel, and later tonight some of the Vietnamese students will take us to a restaurant!  Looking forward to some good eats.

Until next time...
